Method # 12

Whew!! Thought I was never going to finish, lol. But Seriously, I should thank our librarian for suggesting that we take this training. I did start off a bit intimidated, but once I got into into the program I thought to myself "I can do this" and I am glad I did because this two-step program was awesome, I feel a little bit more knowlegable about what's available to us online. I did not realize just how much there was for us to use and so simple to access. I really liked learning about Wikis and I loved Del.ci.ous. I hope to learn more on these particular ones. Once I practice using these tools more I will surely make use of them as much as I need to, both and at work and personally. The short videos in plain english were very easy to understandand and very helpful to me. As I mentioned on #9 I am a bit familiar with FB chat and IM, I do use these pretty frequently with my family. Thanks for having trainings like this one, hope to see more in the future.

Method # 11

In the Educational Podcast Directory, I found some really good ones. I really like reading the one on "Healthful Living" especially the one called "Take one Step for a Healthy Heart." Great advice. The other one from the podcasting libraries, I thought "Book Talks-Quick and Simple" was pretty cool. I can see something like this working in our school library.

Method # 10

I thought the video on PB Works (Wikis in Plain English ) was pretty simple to understand. I liked how the St. Joseph County Library has their page setup. We could do something like that in our library. The way they have their Subject guides is very user friendly and I think it would really help our students understand the Dewey Decimal System and how books are arranged in the library. If Teachers are not already using PB works they should because their students would really benefit from it.

Method # 9

Since I have a FB account, I do FB chat with my family. I really enjoy chatting online. I also like the fact that we can have a conversation with more than one person at the same time. I think this would be a good idea to consider, but like I have mentioned before students are still restricted from online chatting in school.

Method #8

I really enjoyed learning more about Social Networking. I personally already have an account with Facebook, and I love it. All my family and friends have Facebook accounts and we all enjoy it, it's so much fun and easy to use once you get the basics, of course I have not tried to do everything that you can do, basically I post messages on the board and share photos, check out what everybody is doing. I like the way you have the option to privacy and only share with people you want. Also I can send a message directly to the person I want to communicate with. We use it to share photos and keep in touch with what’s happening in our lives. Maybe I’ll create another account that will be more professional and I can share with everyone. As far as using it in our school I think this would be an awesome way to promote our new books , letting our teachers, students and community give their input and make suggestions on what kind of books they would like to see in the library. Right now all this sites are blocked in our school but I think this will soon change if we want to keep up with the rest of the world. About My Space, I have seen my kids use it, I do not have an account and don’t think I ever will, I think for now I’ll stick with Facebook.

Method #7

DELICIOUS oh yes, the perfect name for this social bookmarking tool. I have not yet created a Delicious account, but believe me I am. I really like the way you can share websites with people/friends with the same interests. I do hope that we use this tool in our school library, we could bookmark all the educational sites that students would be using on a particular project. This is also an easy way to keep in touch with what other school libraries are doing. This is so cool and I can't wait to get started. I am a clerk and my job is mostly book processing, so I am going to find some sites on cataloging, searching for marc records like the The Library of Congress for example...

I too agree with everybody, this was fun I hope I did this right. I chose this video because it's fun and educational at the same time. The kids are really having fun learning. It would be a awesome if we could do something like this to teach elementary kids the Dewey Decimal System in the library.

Method #5

I picked this lighthouse, It is so pretty with the light of the moon next to it. I have always been facinated with lighthouses even though we're so far away from one. I have to wait till summer when we even get to go to the coast.
I really liked exploring flicker and I think personally I would use it especially that you have the option of making your pictures private or public. As far as in the library I don't know if we would need to use it at this time, but who knows maybe in the future.

Method #4

http://www.ewtn.com/
http://www.mysanantonio.com/
http://www.cinemark.com/

Here are the websites I picked. I did not pick google reader, I did not see anything that I was intrested in. I chose these websites because I enjoy reading local news and San Antonio is the closest major city with a major newspaper that is available to us in our little remote town. I love my ewtn.com station and enjoy going in to read daily prayers and search the book store and of course check out the tv listings to see what,s new. Last but not least is my movies and I do like going to the movies. It is very convenient for me to see what new movies are coming up next. (cheezy I know, but oh well that's me for you.)

Method #3

Personally I had never heard of "google docs" and "zoho" before this assignment. I think these tools are neat to have available, but as for me using them for personal information makes me feel a bit scarey and makes me nervous. On the other hand it does sound like a good thing for our students at school, they not only could save the assignments, reshearch papers, etc... for as long as they wanted to keep them, they would be able to access them anywhere the internet was available. In our school we can currently make backups of assignments etc.. to a server, which is onsite only. For library information it sounds like an intresting option to consider and I think we should learn alot more before we take that step but I'm glad we're learning so we can keep up with technology.

method 1& 2

Method 1&2
This project seems a bit scarey but at the same time I'm excited and ready to take this challenge. I'v seen other library blogs before and hoping that someday we can have something like this at our school.
